Dry Waterways

Dry Waterways is a work investigating the hidden and slowly disappearing water networks of the Cycladic island of Tinos, an island with a rich hydrological history that is today perceived as an entirely dry landscape.

Climate catastrophe has led to a dramatic reduction in rainfall. Compounded by water overuse from tourism and human demand, this scarcity severely impacts local communities, small-scale farming, and the fragile ecosystem.

The installation is driven by 16 years of rainfall data, dropping from 2010 to 2026, as collected by George S, a local farmer who hopes that his crops will survive another year of drought. The drops that fall onto the clay become sound, translating the island’s climate into a physical process of decay.
